Logan car dealership plans for expansion

In order to make room for more Toyota and Honda vehicles, the Young Auto Mall in Logan plans on separating the two dealerships into their own individual buildings by late 2016 or early 2017.

"The two are natural competitors," said Mike Capron, the general manager of Young Auto, "and we feel that the community is ready for this expansion."

Capron said the new store will take the place of the old Moonlight Diesel, which neighbors Young Auto Mall. The old Moonlight Diesel building is being re-purposed into a Honda dealership while the current auto mall will be re-imaged as a Toyota dealership. Construction will begin as soon as the old Moonlight Diesel building has been re-purposed. Young Auto will remain open for business in the meantime.

"We moved out of that store a year ago," said Terry Thain, the president of Moonlight Diesel. "With Young Auto, we were both kind of in the same boat: we both wanted to expand. The move has helped us out, and I think it'll help them out, too."

"The Young Auto Mall has been a very successful business," said Kirk Jensen, the economic development director for Logan. "We feel that this expansion is necessary and that Logan will benefit from it."

"Overall business has been pretty good," Capron said. "Cache Valley is a really great place for business."
